I recently spent a few days with Kirker Holidays discovering the Andalucia region in Spain. 

Malaga

My previous thoughts on what Malaga was like completely changed after only spending a few hours here! I now would like to return for a longer stay to fuller explore the city and region. Malaga has an incredible old city centre full of amazing architecture, Roman Ruins, a castle and plenty of Museums to explore (including the Picasso Museum, Malaga being the birthplace of Pablo Picasso) and a lovely Marina area. You can spend a couple of days here exploring alone.

Malaga also has incredible beaches right on its doorstep and makes for a great base for day trips to nearby national parks. 

Seville

The Alcazar Palace and Gardens is worth a visit to Seville alone, however there is much more of the city to discover! We stayed in the incredible Hotel Colon, which gives you a prime location with a 10 minute walk to the main city centre. Along with the Alcazar, the Cathedral and Plaza de Espana is also a must see!

The food is incredible in Seville, you really can’t go wrong. I would also recommend booking Dinner and a Flamenco show at Casa Inqueita. I was not sure what to expect with the Flamenco show, would it be too touristy? This was not the case at all! At Casa Inqueita the Flamenco is completely traditional and the talent and passion from the performers was incredible. 

The Cadiz Province

After spending a couple of days exploring Malaga and Seville we heading to the coast for a quieter more relaxed stay in Rota, the perfect place to base yourself within the Cadiz region. I would recommend car hire for this area to have the opportunity to head out and explore the towns and cities nearby. Rota is surrounded by golden sandy beaches and has a small laid back old town perfect for early morning exploring.

Make sure you plan a visit to Jerez not only does it have a charming old city, it is the most famous sherry town. We stopped off at Bodegas Fundador Winery for a tour and of course lunch and a tasting!

Sanlúcar de Barrameda is also worth planning a day out to, starting off at the castle at the top of hill in the main town, take your time to slowly wander down through the bustling markets and local restaurants towards the main square. 

Andalusia has the perfect mix of city exploring and also relaxing beaches, make sure you have time to get out and about to explore the lesser known and smaller towns and cities as they may just surprise you!
