Guernsey short break
Guernsey Exclusive Short Break Departure
5 nights from Stansted from £735pp*
26th June 2020
Guernsey is a short journey from home, but a million miles from the hectic pace of 21st century life! Full of natural beauty, it provides a relaxing environment for a peaceful getaway. Winding lanes reveal rolling pastures, tree filled valleys dotted with traditional Guernsey farmhouses constructed from local granite and lead to dramatic cliff views and glorious sandy beaches – there is a surprise around every corner!
The capital St Peter Port, with its quaint cobbled streets, Regency architecture and picturesque seafront marina, is considered one of Europe’s prettiest harbour towns. Along with shops, boutiques and bustling markets you’ll also find Castle Cornet which has stood guard over the town for 800 years, beautiful Candie Gardens and Hauteville House, the former home of French writer Victor Hugo.
With its breathtaking stretches of white sandy beaches and stunning award-winning gardens it’s easy to see why so many fall in love with Herm at first sight. This haven from the modern world is just one and a half miles long by half a mile wide, so the scenic coastal paths can be walked in their entirity within a leisurely couple of hours. The gently undulating route takes you to stunning Shell Beach on Herm’s north eastern corner, with its crystal clear waters and sand that is comprised of millions of tiny shell fragments. A little further around the coast is the pretty, sheltered cove of Belvoir Bay while Herm Village is just a short walk from the harbour where you’ll find a pub and a few small shops. A unique place which thanks to its proximity to France offers a sense of a holiday abroad, but nonetheless feels resolutely British.
